OBJECTIVES
Eco-Conservation Initiatives (ECI) has been established by a core of
professionals who believe in human resource development at the grass root level
as an entry point for the achievement of sustainable development and
conservation of the ecosystem in which communities survive and flourish. ECI
believes in the paradigm where environment should be conserved and development
made in an alliance with nature.
The major objective of the ECI is enhancement of quality of life, conservation
of natural ecosystems and biodiversity through environmentally sustainable
approaches utilizing natural renewable resource base with the active
participation of communities.
NATURE AND SUBSTANCE
- ECI has been established to promote conservation of biodiversity through
participatory development, which ensure stability of the ecosystem through
active involvement of communities at the grass root level.
- ECI will focus on agricultural development through management of natural
resources such as water, land, etc.
- ECI believes in integration of activities for social uplift and sustainable
development with active involvement of communities and networking of
agricultural and rural development.
- ECI emphasizes on a self-sustaining process, which is based on provision of
information, skill enhancement and mechanisms for linking communities with input
delivery channels and markets.
- ECI is a non-partisan and not-for-profit Pakistani Organization working as a
catalyst, which initiates a development process within communities living in
villages, katchi abadis and low income areas in a self reliant manner.

STAFF AND ADMINISTRATION
ECI has a Board of Governors comprising eminent professionals and intellectuals
who support conservation of the environment and provide guidance and advice to
run programs of the Organization. Dr. Zafar Altaf is the first Chairman Board of
Governors. ECI is administered by an Executive Committee who is responsible for
its organization and management. Dr. A. I. Mohyuddin is the first Chief Executive.
ECI has professional staff of international repute with expertise in integrated
development and conservation of environment. Currently the staff are engaged in
research and implementation of community based integrated crop management
programs in under developed rural areas. They have wide experience in organizing
training of trainers, farmer field schools, mass-awareness campaigns, Workshops,
Symposia and Seminars. A core of internationally recognized professionals is on
ECI's panel of experts.
