International Workshop on Integrated Pest Management of Agricultural Pests for OIC Member Countries in Asia held in Islamabad, Pakistan, 8-11 March 1999.
Eco-Conservation Initiatives (ECI) has a training unit, which is mainly responsible to hold national level training workshops and seminars on a wide range of subjects including Integrated Crop Management (ICM), Project Development, Fundraising, Environmental Management, Health & Education and Institutional Building. The training unit prepares the training material, design the training framework and conducts the events by inviting nominees from a wide range of organizations. In the continuing series of successful training, ECI is going to undertake next training workshop on Fundraising with focus on Event Management.
Training workshops on different subjects is not just concerned with money. It is about learning to communicate effectively with the public, developing a network of enthusiastic and committed supporters for our cause, and building a strong and successful organization which is able to face the future with confidence. It is now being generally felt that organizations and projects heavily funded by foreign sources does not create a feeling of 'local ownership'. This can diminish the importance of our cause in the eyes of local communities as our work can be seen imposed and funded from abroad. Taking this into account, Eco-Conservation Initiatives (ECI) has an objective of developing indigenous solutions with focus on relevance, efficacy and cost effectiveness based on research, and to extend it through training. The training course on Fundraising with focus of Event Management has been designed keeping in view the need of the NGOs / CBOs, government, academia and corporate sector. The course contents are very much relevant and according to the need of these organizations.
