ECI organized a 4-day on Project Proposal Development from 11 to 14 February 2002 in Islamabad.
This training workshop on Project Proposal Development provided an opportunity to the participants to enhance their proposal writing skills, conceptualize the projects framework, identify elements of the proposals, collect background information for the proposed interventions and develop sensible operational strategies.
On last day of the workshop, the participants visited an under developed village in Tehsil Murree known as Arokas Valley. They met community members, had a transect walk in the valley and collected baseline information. Later in day, the trainees were engaged in a group exercise to develop project proposals with a view to initiate an Integrated Rural Development Program (IRDP) for Arokas Valley. The proposed plan was discussed in detail in the presence of a panel. This was a highly interactive event and played a great deal to strengthen the process of networking among wide range of organizations and people.
The learning objectives of the training workshop included to locate and identify targets for development intervention, skill enhancement to understand the concept of project operation, management and monitoring & evaluation mechanism, gain experience to systematically document background information, document and synthesize project proposal elements, develop project proposal formats, provide an opportunity to identify potential donors and enhance project's networking process.
