The proposed training workshop will focus on the objective oriented fundraising and its tools and techniques appropriate to Pakistani socio-economic and cultural scenario with transitional approach. It will specifically cover the Fundraising Events such as fundraising walks, theme parties, corporate events, educational fairs, exhibitions, tradeshows, etc. It will deal with planning, organizing and managing such events to achieve the desired objectives. Since this is an age of a competitive corporate culture we need to devise our strategies according to the existing norms of the business culture. Therefore the course contents also deal with advertising, public relationing and marketing techniques to make fundraising events a success.

Overall workshop objectives are, to enhance the capacity of NGOs/CBOs/GOs and semi-government organizations in fundraising and contribute towards their financial sustainability.

The workshop will comprise presentations by the resource persons, discussion sessions to analyze and synthesize different concepts, learning exercises for planning, organizing and documenting the background information about a particular event. One of the important features of this training is a planned field visit to collect data for development of grant-seeking proposals. Later the trainees will be engaged in a group exercise to design the fundraising events including fundraising walks, theme parties, corporate events, educational fairs, exhibitions, tradeshows, etc. Each group will present the designed event to a panel.
ECI has a panel of eminent development specialists of international caliber who have extensive experience in planning, designing and organizing a wide range of Fundraising events. Among these, the following resource persons are mainly responsible for designing and conducting this training workshop:
Mohammad Azhar Qureshi is a development specialist. He possesses skills in project development and evaluation, planning, monitoring, community organization, transfer of technology and fundraising. He has been designing and conducting the training workshops for Eco-Conservation Initiatives (ECI), Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) and several international development projects. He possess vast skills in planning, managing and organizing a wide range of objective oriented fundraising events. He has vast experience in research and development of Integrated Crop Management (ICM). He is a Fellow of LEAD-Pakistan and has also served this organization as consultant for development of Fellows Program at the national level. At present he is operating projects in agriculture, health & education and training of trainers. He has written extensively and possesses vast experience and professional skills to design and conduct training on project proposal development, fundraising, natural resource management, environmental management, project management, project proposal development, integrated crop management, institutional building, rural development and Fundraising Events.
Dr. Shahid Ahmad has a diverse background of working with government, NGOs, CBOs and various categories of non-profit organizations. Currently, he is supervising a number of programs on eco-sustainability issues and the development of monitoring & evaluation mechanisms for different projects in the public and private sector.
Murtaza Malik received his Ph.D. in wastewater treatment and his master's degree in environmental engineering from the University of Newcastle, UK. He also holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar. He has worked on several research projects dealing with anaerobic digestion and sewage treatment methods. He currently works as Deputy Director in NWFP- EPA, Peshawar. His responsibilities include technical advice on issues like solid waste management and wastewater treatment and compliance with National Environmental Quality Standards (NEQS). He has presented, participated, and organized several workshops regarding pollution control, sewage treatment and other related issues. He is a member of several national and international organizations. He has published twelve papers in international journals and conference proceedings. His paper won the first prize in the "Young Authors Competition-1996" by the British Chartered Institution of Water and Environment Management (CIWEM). He has also worked as the Project Manager of a World Bank-funded and EPA-implemented project "Protection of River Swat".
A number of renowned persons have been invited to present their personal experiences in planning, designing and organizing special events with specific reference to Fundraising.
